Beast Behaving Badly (Pride, #5)

Purchase on Amazon: Shelly Laurenston - Beast Behaving Badly (The Pride Series)
Summary:
From Goodreads.com
Ten years after Blayne Thorpe first encountered Bo Novikov, she still can't get the smooth-talking shifter out of her head. Now he's shadowing her in New York-all seven-plus feet of him-determined to protect her from stalkers who want to use her in shifter dogfights. Even if he has to drag her off to an isolated Maine town where the only neighbors are other bears almost as crazy as he is...

Let sleeping dogs lie. Bo knows it's good advice, but he can't leave Blayne be. Blame it on her sweet sexiness -- or his hunch that there's more to this little wolfdog than meets the eye. Blayne has depths he hasn't yet begun to fathom -- much as he'd like to. She may insist Bo's nothing but a pain in her delectable behind, but polar bears have patience in spades. Soon she'll realize how good they can be together. And when she does, animal instinct tells him it'll be worth the wait...

Review:
This was the first book that I have read my Shelly Laurenston, I had seen this series floating around on Amazon and Goodreads but had never taken the plunge. So when I saw this book pop up on Net Galley I thought I’d give it a whirl. I knew I was picking it up on book five but it looked like it could be read as a standalone. Where I was not incorrect in that, it can be read standalone, I would recommend that you read it as a part of the series. I say this not because it really follows a series timeline but more that there is so many supporting characters that have obviously been introduced and you are expected to already know them. I’m still not 100% sure that I got all of the characters figured out but I think I got most of them.

Despite the fact that I got some of the characters confused I absolutely adored this book! It was funny, sexy and entertaining as all get out. Blayne was freak’n adorable! I loved her! She always had something funny to say and was always getting into some sort of trouble. And really who else would have badgers after them! Blayne is fun and infectious, before you know it, she has you under her spell. You can’t help but like her. She is constantly underestimated. Even her friends underestimate her, they have no idea what she is really capable of and can’t seem to look beyond the surface, but Blayne has some tricks up her sleeves. One of those tricks is taming the big bad hockey player Bo Novikov. Once she realizes he isn’t trying to kill her, she decides he should have a personality make over and proceeds to tame the beast! Bo is undercover funny! He is so uptight you would never expect him to have jokes, but he actually does! He gives Blayne as good as he takes. He is such a cranky a$$, it’s great. His intensity is pretty sexy though, all that intense concentration and energy focused on one thing, or person, yummy! I never thought I would like such a cranky, uptight character, but watching Blayne crack him, is so damn entertaining! These two go round and round in a battle of wills, as these complete opposites attract. Blayne tried to regulate Bo to friend zone but he refuses to stay there. He’s a man that knows what he wants and will stop at nothing to get it.

The story is fast paced and hilarious! Ms. Laurenston has such a wonderful sense of humor. This may have been my first book by her but it definitely will not be my last, I can promise you that. I need to go back to the beginning to see what I missed because of all of the books are like this one, I may have to add this series to my favorite series list.

  1. Oh yay!! Isn't Shelly fantastic? It's one of my favorite series and you're right about them being stand alone but so much better read as a whole. I started at book 6 then had to go back and read them all and they really are each so much fun :) I love that she has bear shifters too. That was a first for me.

If you like more UF feel she writes as GA Aiken and does a dragon shifter series that is just amazing.

    Happy reading!
