#EarlyReview: Hooked by Brenda Rothert

Hooked: Jake Birch and Miranda

Expected publication: December 6th 2016

Summary:
From the author of the On the Line and Fire on Ice hockey romance series comes a sultry novel featuring a brooding NHL player who’s hell on skates—and the no-nonsense woman who forces him to clean up his act.
Miranda: Even though I’m broke, putting myself through college, and working two jobs, I’m trying to make the best of it. Meanwhile, Jake Birch, hockey’s hottest bad boy, lives in a luxury hotel in downtown Chicago—and still complains about every little thing in his penthouse. But after I tell him off, instead of getting me fired, Jake requests me as his personal housekeeper. Then he starts flirting with me. Only I’m not flirting back . . . at least, I’m trying not to. Did I mention that he’s hockey’s hottest bad boy?
Jake: I’ve met the best woman at the worst possible time. Miranda is the fire to my ice—a sexy, charmingly candid spark who breaks down my walls and reminds me what it’s like to feel again. But I’m being forced to date my team owner’s daughter to keep my job, so I can’t be caught with Miranda. Still, we’re getting closer—until Miranda finds out about my “girlfriend.” And that’s not the only secret I’ve been keeping. But Miranda’s the one I want . . . even if she doesn’t believe me.

Review:
So I’m not going to lie I read this book maybe a month ago and after I read it, I immediately went and looked for other Brenda Rothert books and ended up reading like three more so they are kind of mixed up in my head at the moment. Lol  But that alone should tell you I really enjoyed this book.

I had no idea what to expect from this book since this was a new to me author, but the cover was hot and I love hockey books as a general rule so I thought I’d give it a try. I am super glad I did. I was very pleasantly surprised. I liked both Miranda doesn’t have time for a sexy playboy hockey player. She’s got school and two jobs and is still barely keeping her head above the water.  Jake has never met a woman he wanted to see more than once but there was something about Miranda that just keeps him coming back for more. She doesn’t take his shit and calls him on his BS.  She’s no nonsense and makes him work for it. But what I think made me fall for him is when he studies with her. He knows he wouldn’t be able to spend time with her otherwise and he wants to see her so much that he goes to her place and helps her study for her exam and even stays at her crappy apartment with her when he’s paying for and staying at a five star hotel.

This ended up being a sexy, heartwarming tale, that I truly enjoyed. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone who enjoys sports romance or really contemporary romance in general.
